Welcome to HB Accounting! I’m Hayley, the founder and driving force behind our practice. With over a decade of experience in both practice and industry, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for accounting to the table.
My Journey in Accounting
I’ve been AAT qualified for over 10 years and have had the pleasure of working with clients across a diverse range of sectors.
In 2016, I founded HB Accounting to put my passion for numbers to use and to help small businesses thrive. I soon realised the best part of being a bookkeeper is not just crunching the numbers, it’s about helping business owners understand what the figures mean and what difference it makes to their personal lives as well as their business.

A New Approach to Bookkeeping
During my experience working in practice before starting my own business, I noticed a common and frustrating trend: bookkeeping tasks were often left until the last minute. Clients would delay their bookkeeping until just before the VAT return was due, leading to a rush to comply with deadlines. This last-minute approach caused significant stress for both clients and the accounting team. More importantly, it left clients without a clear vision of their finances, as the focus was solely on compliance.
I found this approach to be unhelpful and limiting for clients. I believe that bookkeeping should be about much more than just meeting compliance requirements. It should be a proactive tool that provides ongoing insights into your business’s financial health, helping you make informed decisions and achieve your goals.
